Via a video -message on the social media, Bakoyannis notes that under Veliaj’s management, in a relatively short time, Tirana has been transformed into a modern, vibrant and dynamic metropolis.

“It is such a pleasure to be able to send this message and  voice support for my good and dear friend Erion Veliaj. You all know Erion, right? He is ambitious, he is accomplished, he is talented, and he is hardworking and charismatic. I have spent endless hours talking with Erion and sharing his love and enthusiasm for Tirana. In a relatively short time, Tirana has become the capital of youth, culture and sports. In a very short time, those who have visited Tirana, can experience Tirana’s transformation into a modern, vibrant and dynamic metropolis. The best is yet to come. Erion, I wish you every luck and every success,” Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis said in his message.

Interior Minister Çuçi said that he and Bakoyannis exchanged views on local government issues, public policies, decentralization and local government organization and functioning.

“I highlighted the impact of administrative and territorial reform that for the first time also saw the creation of a Greek-minority dominated municipality in Albania,” he said.

The Interior Minister also noted that Athens is a capital city for many Albanians who work and have been integrated for years.

“Together with Tirana, they constitute two gravity centres of friendship between the two nations. We need to look forward to the future by adding bridges of communication and cooperation at all levels,” Çuçi said.
