The meeting, chaired by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, marked the official launch of preparations for one of the region’s largest multi-sport events, bringing together public institutions, the Olympic movement and international partners around a shared vision.

KOKSH President Fidel Ylli, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Endrit Hoxha, expressed Albania’s full support for the Olympic Committee of Kosovo and Kosovo’s institutions throughout all stages of preparation for the Games.

Ylli described the organisation of the Mediterranean Games in Kosovo as a historic milestone and said Albania would remain a steadfast partner in the project.

A key role for Albania in the event will be hosting aquatic sports competitions in Durrës, turning the coastal city into one of the venues for the Games and highlighting its sporting and tourism potential.

The meeting was also attended by Prishtina Mayor Përparim Rama, Kosovo’s Minister of Local Government Administration Elbert Krasniqi, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Blerim Gashani, President of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo Ismet Krasniqi, Secretary General Besim Aliti and vice-presidents Milaim Kelmendi and Arben Fetahu.

The “Prishtina 2030” Mediterranean Games are expected to represent an important moment for Albanian and Kosovan sport, creating opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, promote athletic development and enhance organisational capacities.

KOKSH said Albania would continue to stand alongside Kosovo throughout the preparation process, with the goal of making the Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030” a shared success for sport in both countries.
