TIRANA, July 20 /ATA/ “The vaccination during the summer season makes us more confident that if there are other viruses in circulation during the fall, we will be more protected,” said in an interview with ATA Erida Nelaj, head of the national vaccination program in the Institute of Public Health.

Nelaj appealed that everyone should be vaccinated because, according to her, “the more people are vaccinated, the better prepared we are to anticipate any kind of ongoing situation”.

“Vaccination is really very important and it is not just a recent process because we started vaccinating in January this year. The pace of vaccination increased greatly during March and onwards. We have achieved over 1 million vaccinations performed, which means that we are creating a form of protection or barrier against the coronavirus. The more people are vaccinated, the better prepared we are to anticipate any future situations. The vaccination during the summer season, makes us more confident that if there will be other circulation of viruses during the fall, we will be more protected “, Nelaj told ATA.

As for the new variants of COVID-19, such as “Delta”, Nelaj said that vaccination helps people to pass more easily or not to experience it at all as a virus.

“Viruses are constantly changing and there are always different variants of viruses and at least so far vaccines have been effective for most of them with some small changes they may have. For the ‘Delta’ variant we have to be more careful, but of course we have to be vaccinated, as vaccination helps us to pass it easily, or not to experience it at all as a virus and the most important thing is not to have complications and not to end up in hospitals “, she said for ATA./r.e/p.s./
