PRISTINA, Nov29 /ATA/ Kosovo state officials have condemned an attack on the town hall of Zvečan in northern Kosovo late Thursday, which was the second attack within two days on the country’s institutions in this municipality with a predominantly Serbian majority, following a grenade attack on a police station.

Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the North, Veton Elshani, told Radio Free Europe that the town hall was attacked with an explosive device on Thursday before midnight, which is suspected to have been an “M-75 hand grenade.”

Elshani emphasized that no one was injured in the explosion, meanwhile the police have not yet identified any suspects behind the attack. The attack caused damage to the town hall and four vehicles parked nearby, while the police have already begun investigations, according to Elshani.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, said that these attacks “are criminal and terrorist acts aimed at spreading fear,” when asked about the attack on Friday during an event in Podujevë.

However, he insisted that the security situation in the tense northern part of Kosovo “has never been better than it is now.”

“Although there are wrongdoers, the criminal groups have either escaped to Serbia, are incarcerated in Kosovo, or are hiding outside our region. We do not have any internal sources of potential instability or security threats that we are unable to manage, and we are capable of confronting them,” said Kurti.
