TIRANA, July 18/ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku is participating in the Energy Community Treaty meeting being held in Athens.

Through a video message in the social media, Balluku said that, “The Energy Community Treaty was founded 20 years ago, becoming a vital platform for all partner countries”, while noting that in the last 5 years, the ECT for Albania has become a roadmap.”

“Here we have managed to address all the issues, especially those of regional cooperation; to come closer to the requirements of the European Union, to have a voice to discuss them and through the Energy Secretariat, to take these issues to Brussels”, said Balluku.

She noted that, “At the meeting being held in Athens, we will talk about the future of this Treaty, but on the other hand also about the future of the entire energy sector in the Western Balkans”, while she expressed her belief that the task that the Energy Secretariat has carried out so far will be equally important in the future.

Balluku emphasized that, “Today, when one of the most important geopolitical issues is energy, today when Europe is struggling to maintain its capacities, especially to create other renewable energy capacities, Albania undoubtedly has a lot to say, has a lot to do and to help other countries that are part of the Western Balkans”.

But, above all, she underlined, today we are at the negotiating table and at that negotiating table the role of the Energy Secretariat is vital.

She said that Albania aims to develop towards renewable energy.

“It is a role that cannot be replaced and above all, today we are cooperating to change those regulatory frameworks that will bring us closer to the laws of the European sector, but on the other hand will also help us to fulfill all the requirements of the green agenda”, said Balluku.

“I very much hope that in this 20th anniversary, all the countries of the Western Balkans will find their way as easily as possible towards energy security; on the other hand especially regarding the interconnectivity part which is an important issue that is discussed at our tables, but on the other hand we need to do more, just as Albania is already connected to North Macedonia, to Greece and we are working intensively for an underwater connection with Italy”, stated Balluku, as she thanked the European Commission, the European Commissioner for Energy and the Energy Secretariat for all the work done in all these years and all the support they have given us. /e.xh/j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, November 26/ATA/ Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament and also the political leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora Taulant Balla attended a festive activity in Athens, organized by the Embassy of Albania, where many Albanian nationals from all over Greece participated to celebrate the Independence Day.

In a statement after the meeting, Minister Balla emphasized the significance of Albanians getting united to promote national culture, art and history, highlighting the support that the Albanian government is offering to the Diaspora.

“These are the moments when Albanians gather not only to celebrate our national day, but also to promote our art, culture, literature and history. The government will continue to pay special attention to the Diaspora. For Albanians living in Greece, we have provided a solution to one of the main problems, Albanian language teachers. Thanks to the “Teachers for Greece” program, we will have a significant number of teachers financed by the Albanian government to guarantee the teaching of the Albanian language to Albanian children born here,” he said.

Balla also announced his visit to Crete, emphasizing the significance of direct contacts with Albanians living on this island.

“It is true that on the island of Crete, in the cities and villages of this island, there lives a significant community of Albanians, who are now also successful entrepreneurs and excel in their professions in many fields. Therefore, it is an honor for me to have the opportunity to celebrate the November holidays, as we Albanians are accustomed to, with the Albanians of Crete,” Balla said.

The celebration organized in Athens was a moment of pride and unity for Albanian nationals in Greece, showing that national traditions continue to be preserved and passed on to the younger generations in the Diaspora. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, November 26/ATA/ Some schools in Athens, Greece, will be made available to Albanian teachers to teach children the Albanian language.

Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, who is on a visit in Athens, gave the news. There he attended the event organized by the Albanian embassy to Greece on occasion of Albania’s Independence Day.

“I am delighted that the discussion on the issue of pensions of Albanian emigrants to Greece has already begun. Today, Athens mayor confirmed to me that some schools in Athens will be made available to Albanian teachers, in line with the government and prime minister’s promise. Now, that we have the assets, the work becomes a little easier when a school already has the didactic tools and there is no need to find some place on rent. This is good news in this extraordinary year of celebrations and in this involvement of the Albanian Diaspora like never before”, emphasized Veliaj.

The mayor of Tirana said that the efforts made are only producing kindness for Albanian emigrants. /k.s/j.p/p.s./
