Prime Minister Edi Rama gave the news saying that “20,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine have just arrived in Albania, as a gesture of solidarity of the Croatian government.”

Rama stressed that, “With 1,699,410 antiCOVID vaccines that have arrived in the country so far and other quantities that will come, we are determined to advance the national vaccination plan, to protect the life and health of every citizen.”

Health authorities intensified the appeal for vaccination of the population, with the introduction of the Delta variant in the country. The ministry appealed to citizens to be vaccinated as soon as possible, to curb the spread of the dangerous virus. The journalist of the Albanian Telegraphic Agency closely monitored the process of anti-COVID vaccination of teachers and lecturers at the venues of the school “4-Dëshmorët” in Tirana, while this process has spread throughout the country.

“I am a teacher at the “Sami Frashëri” gymnasium. We were informed by the school directorate about the schedule and the place where we have to appear. In a statement to the media, Rama stated that the vaccination of teachers throughout Albania will start on Monday.

“Yesterday, we received 38,400 doses of ‘AstraZeneca’ and immediately started vaccinating teachers, in line with the action plan. It will be extended on Monday throughout Albania according to the administrative units with the schools that will serve as vaccination centers”, said Rama.

The prime minister stressed that, “This is a big step forward”.

Rama also said that, “We will vaccinate pensioners en masse”.

Asked about the suspension of the “AstraZeneca” vaccine by some countries, Rama said that the “AstraZenca” vaccine has been suspended in some countries, it is true, as it is true that you are all in the great professional and human obligation not to spread untruths or unconfirmed news that create panic ”.

“It is theoretically impossible that if there was a real concern about the ‘AstraZeneca’ vaccines, the world would allow the delivery of quantities to continue”, said Rama.
