During his speech, the Overseer of the Archdiocesan Throne, the Metropolitan of Korça, Bishop Joani, praised Archbishop Anastasios’ contribution to the rebuilding of the Orthodox Church in Albania.

“Bishop Joani remarked that Archbishop Anastasios’ work in rebuilding the Orthodox Church in Albania is both extraordinary and unparalleled. Through his dedication, the entire church infrastructure was constructed and restored, while schools, kindergartens, and vocational institutes were established, and public education was supported. The highlight of his contribution was the establishment of ‘Logos’ University, Albania’s first institution of Orthodox Higher Education.”

“His work was not limited to building church buildings, but extended his care to society as a whole, providing a living testimony that the Church does not exist only for itself, but for everyone, because love knows no boundaries,” Bishop Joani added.

The Metropolitan of Korça said, “His work has had extraordinary significance, supporting a number of social programs, including projects for the development of mountainous areas, the advancement of agriculture, road construction, the building of water supply systems, and healthcare programs.”

“Orphanages, hospitals, institutes for people with disabilities, residential centers for the elderly, and centers for prisoners have been supported. This wide-ranging activity has significantly contributed to the efforts for Albania’s development and has had a great impact on the country’s society and economy,” said Bishop Joani.

“I want to emphasize once again another dimension of his work, perhaps the most important one, which has not been talked about enough. Archbishop Anastasios was not satisfied with simply building the walls of the church; his effort to instill a righteous and good spirit within the church was always a priority. His goal was to build a church where God would be worshiped in spirit and truth. For Archbishop Anastasios, the construction works were not an end in themselves, but a means to fulfill the Church’s salvific mission,” said Bishop Joani. /j.p/sm/
