TIRANA Nov 29 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/ Arbri Road opened on Monday the old path in a new contemporary infrastructural dimension. It is ready to temporarily offer a dignified trip along a length of 48 kilometers built and delivered, while there are still a few kilometers left from its completion.

Currently, it is temporarily passable via the bypass in the Murriz Tunnel, where due to complex geological formations, the work has progressed more slowly and is set to finish in spring.

The road dreamed of for one century significantly shortens the travel distance between Dibra and the capital to only 47 minutes, from 1 hour and 20 minutes today or from 4 hours until yesterday. Meanwhile it facilitates the transportation of citizens and offers more accessibility to the market for local products. The road is spectacular for the fact that it passes through a breathtaking scenery, which until today was under the radar due to isolation.

The works have kicked off many times, but never completed, with several projects left unfinished and held back by the mismanagement mindset. Today, this road is a promise delivered by the government, which serves not only as an internal axis, but also as an important part of an economic corridor in the region.

Prime Minister Rama was in Dibra today, where he participated in the ceremony of removing the obstacle, which marks the provisional opening of the Arbri road in tunnel 2.

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku informed that work is progressing at fast pace to complete the road on schedule.

“This road is 69 km at length down to Maqellara, but in the concession contract there are 54 km, of which 38 km are delivered for use today. We solved the part in Murrizi Pass through a 8.8 km bypass. It is a temporary bypass because we have to inform all drivers that the site opens for traffic temporarily, as work is ongoing until full completion. “Under the contract, the delivery deadline is the end of April 2022, so we will make every effort to deliver everything on time,” she said.

Balluku added that the problem lies in the geology of the Murriz tunnel which is the longest and most complex tunnel of all this work. “The tunnel excavations encountered clay and water layers. However, the work there continuous uninterruptedly and the problem will be solved although the works are not progressing as fast as in 5 other tunnels “, said Balluku.

“This is a marked day because the road shortens the travel distance from 4 hours to only one hour, given the other segments which will join in the coming months the whole infrastructure work. “We are sure it will be completed by April,” she said.

Balluku highlighted the very good coordination with the State Police and mainly with the Road Police, during the time of works and especially last week. “We have been assured of their full commitment to supervise this road, where construction works are in progress, ” she said.

Therefore, the minister said, the Traffic Police as well as drivers should be very careful.
