TIRANA, April 14 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ PM Edi Rama stated on Wednesday that the Arbri Road built by PPP will be toll-free and will be maintained by the company.

In a televised interview from the Vasha Bridge on the Nation’s Highway, Rama said that “this is an extremely complex public work given the use of cutting-edge technology with very spectacular light spaces.”

“I think that this road is a very strong reason to believe in Albanian companies that have already come up to international levels. We continued a process that was in the phase of negotiations with the Chinese party, the negotiations did not end successfully due to terms that we found unfavorable to the public interest. ”

Thereafter we started another process. In the case of public works, especially in these engineering works with plenty of bottlenecks in the process, there are always delays,” said Rama.

However, the Prime Minister pointed out that the company is ahead of time. “There was a push on our side to deliver the work as soon as possible. Even if it is completed within the summer, yet it is still ahead of schedule,” said Rama.

Prime Minister pointed out that “this road is built by PPP for two reasons. Firstly, because if we were to use our budget it would be impossible as we would have diverted more funds from other important state budget programs and in fact the road is built in a very short time and the financing is paid off over a period of 13 years, “We would either wait for 13 years or we would build the road and pay for it,” said Rama.
Also, Rama said that another reason is that this road was built to be toll-free road until the moment when it is fully repaid.”

“During all this time it will be maintained by the company. We will offer financial support for maintenance costs and people will access this road free of charge,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rama said that the other highway Milot-Fier, the public work that should have started a few months ago, but did not start as a result of our disagreement with the terms for, contrary to what is said, we are guardians of the public interest, will be a toll road.

“Milot-Fier, combined with Milot-Muriqan will be a toll road, but there will be normal alternative routes. They will be available again, while the expressway to go from Muriqani to Vlora will be tolled,” Rama said.
Also, the Prime Minister stressed that “this road and the Vlora River road are two amazing axes to an Albania that is less known to us.

“For me, too, it is a discovery, ever since the work on Arbri Road kicked off, I have discovered this whole area. For 99% of the Albanians, this road and the Vlora River area will offer new opportunities to explore another paradise. Two earthly paradises where poverty still persists due to isolation and natural beauties will turn into economic assets to develop livestock, agritourism and tourism working the lands of ancestors,” said Rama.
