Alibeaj commemorated the four democracy heroes, Arben Broci, Nazmi Kryeziu, Bujar Bishanaku and Besnik Çeka who were killed during an anti-government protest in 1991 in the city of Shkodra.

In a post on the social media, Alibeaj said that “the tribute and respect for those who sacrificed their lives on April 2 is shown silently with utmost veneration. With deep reflection on what and why the legacy of anti-communism, freedom and democracy has not yet been fulfilled. There is room for guilt and responsibility for everyone who had the opportunity to contribute in this direction. If one was not willing or capable of doing that should now go silent. A communist mentality only can desecrate the memory of the heroes of April 2, attacking all those who think differently from him,” Alibeaj wrote in a reference to long-time DP leader and ex-Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

“Those who gave their lives on April 2 in the name of freedom and democracy that has been missing for decades deserve the highest respect and honor today,” he said.
