“The number one asset for cities is people. When I listen to those who get stressed out why the asphalt layer is not compact enough, it is not a big deal as long as it can be fixed; if a tile is not properly laid, it is not a big deal as long as it can be laid back; if a tree is not grown, it is not a big deal as long as we can plant another; but there is no city without people. So, if we understand that the number one asset is people, then we can do good things for this city. We are happy that in the City Council we have a representative from the Maternity Hospital of Tirana, to remind us where life begins,” said Veliaj.

During the speech at the ceremony, Mayor Veliaj also gave a message. “We are glad that the Western world is attracting our junior students. It means that they were educated by these professors, they are specializing in these hospitals, they have learned in these departments, they have received knowledge. Someone thinks that, of course, the remuneration for the work is important, but even this great demand for our students is the biggest compliment that can be paid to our system, the university of medicine or health system, which may have its own flaws, but basically this high demand is also a great compliment for those who have already turned gray or have passed away like Dr. Koço Gliozheni. I really believe that this is a national mission,” said Veliaj.

Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, emphasized that “Professor Koço Gliozheni is a man who has contributed to the Albanian medicine, he has contributed to the field of obstetrics and gynecology, as a trail-blazer, as a person who has made a revolution in medicine.”

“Today we are united precisely by the example of a man who devoted his whole life to medicine, to service and to the patient, to the birth and dedication to what we all hold most sacred, the lives of our children. I am pleased that we commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth of Professor Koço Gliozheni, because by commemorating him, we pay tribute to the whole constellation of those people, professors who have contributed to the Albanian medicine,” said the minister. /m.m/sm/
