In images shared on the social media on Thursday, Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja highlighted the scale and grandeur of the archaeological site, calling it a legacy from Albania’s ancestors that instills pride in both residents and international visitors.

The Bylis Archaeological Park is among the best-preserved cities of ancient Illyria and a rare asset of Albanian cultural heritage. Built on a hill overlooking the Vjosa River valley, the site features monumental 4th-century BC walls, a well-preserved theater, rare mosaics, and five early Christian basilicas.

Under the 2024–2029 Management Plan, part of the EU-funded IPA program “EU for Economic Development – Tourism-Led Approach” implemented by AICS, Bylis and the nearby ancient city of Klos are being transformed into new hubs of development, education, and cooperation.

The plan includes professional restoration and sustainable conservation, upgraded infrastructure and visitor services, support for local tourism and artisanal initiatives, and educational programs targeting younger generations.
