TIRANA, March 4 /ATA/ Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, stated on Monday that no subject who has been convicted by the Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime will benefit from Amnesty.

In a media statement after the International Conference on Accountability and the Fight Against Corruption, Manja said that the majority has not back off from the Criminal Amnesty.

I’ve said it from the very beginning that those convicted by CCOC will be neither beneficiaries of amnesty nor of sentence reduction.

The Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption in cooperation with the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) organized in Tirana the international conference “Strengthening Accountability: Strengthening Anti-Corruption Efforts in the Western Balkans.”

In attendance were Ministers of Justice of the Western Balkans and Croatia, Heads of Anticorruption Agencies, Prosecutors and international organizations.
In his remarks, Minister Manja said that the justice reform marked an epochal turning point for our country.

“Today we are no longer talking about a reform in the initial stages, but about a system that produces results by gradually ending impunity in Albania. We are particularly proud that the institutions of the justice system are establishing a new reputation in Albania. The number of dismissed judges and prosecutors is living proof of a justice system that could not deliver justice because it was caught by corruption,” Minister Manja said.
