The memorandum was signed by Armela Krasniqi, the head of the AMA, and Edison Konomi, the head of the SIMS.
This agreement is intended to safeguard, prevent, and address violations of broadcasting rights, while also promoting awareness-raising about the importance of respecting copyright and related rights in audio and audiovisual broadcasts.
“Upholding broadcasting rights for audiovisual content and combating piracy are key priorities in our work,” stated the chairwoman of the AMA during the meeting.
Krasniqi stressed that “the inspection teams of AMA remain consistently active in the field, and the cases of legal violations identified, along with emerging forms of online piracy highlight pressing issues in the Albanian media market concerning these rights. Therefore, every partner in the fight against infringers and in safeguarding legitimate entities is not only welcomed but also strengthens the prospects for more effective and improved regulation of the audiovisual market.”
Discussions with Edison Konomi, the head of ISHMT, and his team explored the best approaches for collaboration after the signing of this Memorandum, ranging from the establishment of a joint Task Force to possible legal initiatives that may be necessary in the future.

The heads of both institutions have expressed their readiness to draft joint work plans that will contribute to further regulation of the market, including both the audiovisual media sector and the protection of copyright.

The agreement signed today aims to improve inter-institutional cooperation in areas of mutual interest, enhancing control over the broadcasting market, increasing efficiency in the implementation of legislation, and ensuring a regulated and fair environment in the media sector.
