Foreign Minister informed that discussions focused on coordinated international efforts, through diplomatic and political means but not only, to ensure the safe and sustainable reopening of this critical maritime route, which is vital for global energy security and economic stability.

“Unity, coordination, and a rules-based international approach are essential. Freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle that must be upheld,” Hoxha said in a post on the social media platform X.

Foreign Minister reaffirmed Albania’s readiness to working closely with partners and allies to support de-escalation efforts and contribute to collective initiatives and solutions.

Vengu said Friday that discussions focused on regional stability, modernization of Albania’s Armed Forces and joint defense projects.

At the meeting with new US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Vengu congratulated him on his assignment, with both agreeing on deeper, strategic and high-level cooperation and shared objectives.

Defense Minister Vengu also met with French counterpart, Sebastien Lecornu, to discuss coordinated steps towards modernization of Albanian Armed Forces, and ways to take key defense projects forward without delays.

The meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense of Croatia, Ivan Anušić, focused on stronger defense cooperation in Kosovo security efforts in the Adriatic-Ionian region.

Vengu also invited Anušić to visit Tirana for further talks.

Talks with the Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto centered on advancing projects on military capabilities across land, air, and sea.

Defense Minister also held talks with his Hungarian counterpart, Szalay-Bobrovniczky Kristof, to discuss closer defense industry cooperation, military medical training, and security expertise sharing.

During the meeting, Berisha invited every party that feels like an opposition party to join in what the leader of the democrats described as a “front against the evil”.

“It is high time for a broad opposition front, therefore, I invite all political forces that feel like being in opposition, consider themselves in opposition, regardless of any disagreements they may have with each other, to join this front so that to successfully confront this evil that we have ahead of us”, said Berisha.

According to Berisha, this unity is of crucial importance.

“There are those who have many objections to a certain party or the other; they may have objections to the DP; and these are normal things. But, the point is that there is no other way than to unite so that to confront this evil that we have ahead of us. And all other ways, only divide the opposition and its force”, said Berisha.

Speaking at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana, US Secretary “this is not an active capability, but it is a potential one that we’re taking very, very seriously.”

During a press conference on the situation in the north of Kosovo, when asked about the reason of his actual concern, Rama said that he was worried about the tones of ultimatum of the allies for Kosovo. According to him, this could bring about incalculable consequences like increase in the number of troops in Kosovo, which means a decrease in the sovereign capacity of Kosovo.

“I am very concerned about the dramatic shrinking of Kosovo in the eyes of the allies and the ultimate tone of the allies, which could have incalculable consequences in many aspects, starting with the consequences of the increase in the number of troops in Kosovo, which means a reduction of the sovereign capacity of Kosovo. Or it means the loss of Kosovo in terms of the loss of a chance to fully integrate the North into its institutional life”, said Rama.

He added that this would be a terrible thing from the point of view of our interests.

“Since 1999, Kosovo has not been under any threat. There is no threat to Kosovo. The threat is in the minds of the politicians in Kosovo and it is only a way to make internal politics using the shadow of a threat that does not exist”, said the prime minister.

Rama stated that Serbia finally lost Kosovo in 1999 and there is no power to touch Kosovo.

“Anyone who watches the scene without any electoral interests within Serbia or Kosovo knows this,” he said./p.s./
