In the event “Infrastructure, Achievements and Challenges for Albania 2030”, Rama said that, “Now, there is a good opportunity that has been created by circumstances and that is not only for our merit”.

“We have done our homework. And we must be there in the right place, when the right moment comes. We do not know when the right moment comes because we do not know when they will change their minds and say open the door. But then a war tragedy happened; some other chaos happened and now the door is open”, said Rama.

But again, he added, “We do not know, how long it will stay open”.

“We know that we have been given a space of 2 years until 2027 to close all negotiations and this space has been given to us by them. So they have nowhere to go until 2027, if we do all the tasks”, Rama said.

“If we end the negotiations, the position completely changes. There are 27 countries that must take Albania and approve it in their parliaments according to the procedures they have, but we have ended the negotiations”, Rama said.

“If we do not end the negotiations, the door may close in the same way as the others. It happened to North Macedonia. North Macedonia became a candidate in 2005. Imagine 2005. 20 years ago, it became a candidate country. The first candidate country in the entire Balkans and they were given a hand to push forward. For a period of time they were an example that was always mentioned. Today, they are far behind us, because the door was closed to them, for other reasons. Montenegro started the negotiations in 2012. It was ready to end them until the end; now the methodology has changed, now Montenegro is the same as us, it is the same. Serbia started them in 2014, it is far behind us, now”, Rama emphasized.

“So, we have this moment when the stars have aligned, our lucky star with the lucky star of the EU, and we must take advantage of it,” Rama said. /j.p/p.s./
