TIRANA, June 24 /ATA/ – Main opposition Democratic Party (DP) leader Sali Berisha on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Edi Rama has planned 523 resort and hotel projects in tourist areas across Albania, which he said have been exempted from taxation for 10 years.

Speaking at a press conference, Berisha referred to material published in the book “Albanian Files,” which he said details the involvement of 60 international architecture studios working in Albania.

“Edi Rama treats Albania as his sultanate, as his private property, and his regime as a colonial administration over Albanians. The media have uncovered the infamous ‘File’ book. Is there more extreme exploitation than this? This is a typical colonial system. It has nothing in common with the fundamental law of the state, the Constitution, or international investment law,” Berisha said.

He said the scale of planned development in tourist areas, including what he described as tax-free luxury projects, represented a model that humanity had long abandoned.

Berisha also claimed that “billions of litres of fuel” were being accessed by wealthy investors at prices significantly below those paid by Albanian farmers, and said the book allegedly lists 523 development projects across the country.

“Albania is one of the few countries where billionaires come and obtain fuel at a quarter of the price paid by Albanian farmers. And now in this book, kept secret from Albanians and never published, Edi Rama lists 523 development projects across the country,” he said.

Berisha further alleged that projects in Livadh in Himara and the Gjipe canyon area, southern Albania, were being developed without transparency regarding investors.
