Asked about the game against the next rival Spain due to be played on Monday, Asani told an interview for UEFA that the Red and Blacks will fight and will give everything on the pitch, as they have nothing to lose now.

“We have played two top rivals, namely Italy and Croatia. They play high level football and Spain also has great talent. We have learned a lot as a team at Euro 2024, as these games are what can improve us as players,” Asani said.

“We have analyzed Spain and studied them. We have nothing to lose, so we will try to do our best and get the three points, although it will be a very difficult task. If we’re lucky, we might make it,” the 29-year old left-footed player added.

Asani stood out at the game against Croatia thanks not only to his perfect cross to set up the opening goal in the 11th minute but for his choice of footwear.

Commenting on his choice to wear Super Mario -themed boots during the game, he said humorously that “boots became more famous than him.”

“I wanted an entertaining design and I chose Super Mario. Maybe my boots are more famous than I am at Euro 2024,” he said.

Albania is preparing for the last Group B game against Spain. The game is decisive for the national side hopes to qualify for the first time ever to the round of 16 at Euro 2024.

A last-gasp goal secured a 2-2 draw with Croatia to keep its hopes alive and its Brazilian coach Sylvinho has instilled a sense of belief in his squad.
