The European Union Delegation in Tirana, together with the Albanian Government, thanks to the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development and the expertise of UNICEF, launched the National Strategy on Social Protection 2024-2030.

Ways to best promote an inclusive Albanian society and ensure that the most vulnerable citizens receive the protection they deserve were also discussed.

The EU will continue to support Albania’s efforts towards alignment with EU standards for a modern, sustainable social protection system for all.

“As everywhere else in Europe, Albanian citizens expect to have high-quality public services that are accessible, efficient, and free from corruption. Accession to the EU involves not only aligning laws and regulations but also adhering to its core values. These values call for a fair and cohesive society that protects the most vulnerable: youth at risk, people with disabilities, the elderly, minorities, and women from rural areas. The EU stands ready to support Albania every step of the way in the implementation of its Social Protection Strategy,” EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato said.
