TIRANA, May 14 /ATA/ Albania has officially taken over the 1-year rotating Presidency of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative / EUSAIR, which starts on June 1, 2021.

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, during the second online meeting of this forum, pointed out that Albania is on the same line with the priorities and determination to bolster regional cooperation with a special focus on youth.

According to her, investing in young people is the best and most sustainable investment towards the important strategic objective of this initiative, the European integration of the Western Balkans.

“I thank you all for these two fruitful days, with very interesting contributions and discussions. I have to say that after this forum I feel very encouraged that we will be able to push ahead with an ambitious agenda. I want to thank all the participants for their goodwill. And I am happy that we are on the same line in terms of priorities and determination to increase regional cooperation with a special focus on our youth, ” said Xhaçka.

“For me, for Albania this is really a nice coincidence because Tirana has been declared the European Youth Capital for 2022, which means that we have a very good opportunity to create synergies and promote projects and initiatives benefiting young people in all our countries. And of course, investing in young people is the best and most sustainable investment towards the important strategic objective of this initiative, the European integration of the Western Balkans, which is best achieved by promoting cooperation between us, ” stressed Xhaçka.

“So, I want to thank you all and in the end I would like to invite all our friends and colleagues to work together and make the most of this opportunity so that NAJ-EUSAIR achieves its potential beyond the role it has had so far, as a meeting place for political dialogue, ” Xhaçka said in the message addressed to the forum, which was also attended by the EC Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira.
