Moreira de Sousa meets EU ambassadors, says ‘Team Europe’ supports Albania on path to membership

TIRANA, Sept. 3 /ATA/ – The European Union’s new ambassador to Albania, Sofia Moreira de Sousa, chaired her first meeting with the ambassadors of EU member states in Albania on Wednesday, as part of the bloc’s joint “Team Europe” approach.

“‘Team Europe’ stands with Albania on its path towards EU membership,” the EU office in Albania said.

During the meeting, the EU Ambassador outlined her vision for supporting Albania in its reform efforts at this crucial stage of the negotiation process, the EU Delegation in Tirana said.

The participants also discussed the challenges ahead, including the implementation of reforms and consolidating the achievements of the 2016 justice reform.

“The EU Ambassador Moreira de Sousa expressed her full commitment to a Team Europe approach, as cooperation between the EU and its Member States is fundamental to support Albania effectively in its aspiration to become an EU Member State, the EU Delegation in Tirana said.

Minister for Local Government meets EU officials, reaffirms Albania’s commitment to EU path

TIRANA, Oct 9 /ATA/ – Minister for Local Government Ervin Demo took part on Thursday in a meeting with members of the Council of the EU’s Working Party on Enlargement and Countries Negotiating Accession (COELA), held in Tirana as part of a fact-finding mission on Albania’s EU membership talks.

The meeting, attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Environment Minister Sofjan Jaupaj, and other local government representatives, focused on assessing progress in reforms and discussing next steps in the accession process.

Minister Demo described the gathering as “another testimony to Albania’s determination to move decisively toward the European family.”

The COELA delegation, accompanied by the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU, is meeting this week with Albanian state institutions, civil society, and the business community.

According to the EU Delegation in Tirana, the visit underscores the EU’s strong commitment to advancing Albania’s accession process based on merit and tangible, sustainable reforms. Albania has opened 28 negotiation chapters in just 11 months, with the latest four opened on September 16 at the sixth Intergovernmental Conference with the EU.

Ambassador Hohmann meets with EU Delegation team, jointly contributing to bring Albania in EU

TIRANA, Aug 5 /ATA/ – The Ambassador of the European Union to Albania Christiane Hohmann held her first meeting with the EU Delegation team in Albania on Friday.

The meeting took place at Europe House in Tirana, with talks focusing on the team’s contribution to Albania’s accession into the European Union.

“My first meeting with the EU Delegation team in Albania at our Europe House. Interesting discussion took place about the priorities of our work ahead. Motivated by their energy and dedication as we jointly contribute to bringing Albania in the European Union,” the EU Ambassador said via Twitter.
