TIRANA, Jan 29 /ATA/ – Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, stated Wednesday that the Holocaust remains a powerful testimony of hatred, discrimination and dehumanization that lead to extermination of 6 million Jews because of their origin.

Addressing an event marking the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Foreign Minister praised Albania’s bravest example and role in saving thousands of Jewish refugees during one of most tragic chapters of the human history.

“On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp we come together at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs that has made the Remembrance Day a sacred tradition to commemorate one of the darkest chapters in human history,” Hasani remarked at a traditional event on the Holocaust Remembrance Day: “Building a Future of Tolerance.”

“This day is an opportunity to reflect on the irreparable tragedy it carries and to draw invaluable lessons from the painful past. It is a moment for us to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to humanity and justice, to keep alive the memory of those who suffered and to continue the battle in a world where hatred and discrimination have no place, but to strive to build together a tolerance-based future,” Hasani said.

Foreign Minister underlined that Holocaust remains a powerful testimony of hatred, discrimination and dehumanization that lead to extermination of 6 million Jews because of their origin.
