TIRANA, Nov 18 /ATA/ – The National Cyber Security Authority (AKSK) on Tuesday urged heightened vigilance among users of services running on the global platform Cloudflare, after a worldwide incident triggered major service disruptions.

Cloudflare said the global outage began at 12:48, citing a technical issue that affected the availability of key services, including its global Edge network, APIs and other critical components. The disruption caused difficulties accessing websites and digital services, including in Albania, where several institutions and sectors reported similar problems.

Cloudflare said it responded quickly and, by 03:42 p.m., reported that the issue was temporary and that work to fix it was under way.

AKSK advised users to monitor any lingering problems in affected services after recovery, and recommended reviewing contingency options to maintain basic service functions should further Cloudflare-related disruptions occur.

The agency said it remains committed to safeguarding national information infrastructure and providing real-time public alerts on potential cyber risks.

TIRANA, June 20 /ATA/ – A cyber incident has been detected affecting parts of the information systems and infrastructure of Tirana Municipality, Albania’s National Authority for Cybersecurity (AKSK) announced on Friday.

According to AKSK’s preliminary assessment, the incident has disrupted the normal functioning of several services and applications managed by the municipality.

AKSK said that upon receiving the alert, in coordination with the State Police, it immediately activated its incident response protocols. AKSK announced that a task force composed of cybersecurity experts has been deployed to conduct an initial forensic analysis, identify breach entry points, contain the incident, and limit its spread to interconnected systems.

Initial recovery measures are underway to restore the functionality of affected systems. Preliminary recommendations have also been drafted to strengthen defenses and improve the security posture of the impacted infrastructure.

AKSK confirmed that its personnel are on-site and working closely with local authorities, the State Police, and the National Agency for Information Society (AKSHI) to analyze malware and ensure a swift and secure system recovery.

The authority strongly condemned any actions that compromise critical information infrastructure and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of Albania’s IT systems.

Further updates will be provided in line with the technical progress of the investigation. AKSK urged citizens and media outlets to rely solely on its official communication channels for verified information.
