Prime Minister Edi Rama shared a photo from the venues of the new airport, waiting for the first flight from London which, as Prime Minister had earlier informed, will land “with the young men of Kukes aboard.”

“After a while, we will go down here, in Kukës, where the second gateway to Albania via the sky is set to open,” said Rama, while sharing a photo from the preparations for this ceremony.

Kukës Airport was built and conceptualized to serve the Albanian territories, such as Albania, Kosovo, but also North Macedonia and Montenegro.

Kukes Airport will be dedicated to low cost companies, which offer quality services against low fares.

The employees at this airport will be from the areas around Kukës, except for positions that require specialized training or licensing.

Kukes Airport covers a territory of 512 thousand square meters, with a runway 1900 meters long and 45 meters wide. Its category is 3C, for the accommodation of turboprop aircraft and regional airliners. The projected capacity is about 1 million passengers per year.
