The news was announced by the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, who shared photos from the fire-extinguishing operation.

“We expect that very soon, together with the work from the field of the 20 Fier Protection Service operatives, 40 AF troops and the equipment involved in this action, the hotspot will be completely contained”, Peleshi said.

On Sunday, Greece, in the framework of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, immediately responded to the request of the Civil Protection Agency with a Canadair plane for aerial intervention in the hotspot in Pishë Poro and Darëzeze in Fier.

The flames in the forest of Darëzeza were fanned by the strong wind. Dozens of units were deployed on the ground to extinguish the fire.
