Rama said that this tactical air base will play a key role in supporting NATO operations.

“The NATO Tactical Air Base in Kuçova set to open soon will play a key role in supporting NATO operations and exercises, also serving as a center for Air Force activities, with modern infrastructure for combat and cargo aircraft of the Alliance,” Rama wrote on his social media account.
The commander of the Air Force, Brigadier General Ferdinand Dimo, outlined the investment made at Kuçova airport.

“2021 saw implementation of investments for the revitalization of the installations of the Kuçova air base. We are already on the point of completing the implementation of 3 important projects such as the fencing and security system, as well as the perimeter protection of the base”, he said.

“Approximately 50 million euros have been invested by NATO and more than 5 million euros have been invested by the Albanian government,” the Commander of the Air Force said, outlining the functions that will be performed by this base.

“Once all the works are completed, the Air Force troops will train at this base. But not only that, NATO troops and aircraft can be accommodated, trained and fly from the Kuçova air base, which is already a NATO tactical air base,” – Dino said.
