TIRANA, Feb 6 /ATA/ On Safe Internet Day, Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, visited the “Sinan Tafaj” High School, where she had the opportunity to learn about the students’ projects, based on advanced technology, and developed in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of this school.

“Artificial Intelligence laboratories are one of those nuclei in 25 schools of the country, through which we aim to encourage young people who, in the future, will deal with programming and coding. This project is more ambitious than that, because it will foster in schools the innovative and creative spirit in the field of Technology and Information, so that young people can explore in the Artificial Intelligence laboratory,” Minister Manastirliu said during a conversation with students of the “Sinan Tafaj” school.

The project “Artificial Intelligence for Youth” supported by INTEL and AADF, aims to educate and inform the young generation about the potential and innovations of artificial intelligence. Minister Manastirliu said that MoES will expand ICT laboratory structures in 216 schools countrywide that will serve not only students but also teachers, emphasizing the importance of training teachers to use modern teaching methods as well as informing children about navigating in safe internet.

“I am convinced that this is also very important for teachers in the context of their training through the Teachers’ Professional Development Program, so that teachers are trained with the most advanced methods and programs. This year alone, about 4 thousand teachers will be trained. They are mainly teachers of mathematics, science, language, and information and communication technology (ICT), to advance towards effective teaching methods, which serve teachers to make their learning even easier, but also more attractive,” Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, said.

The artificial intelligence laboratory at the “Sinan Tafaj” high school is equipped with modern technology and didactic tools that render the learning process more attractive and effective for students. This school year, first-generation students have begun exploring different modules of the project, ranging from basic AI knowledge to advanced data processing.
