TIRANA, April 28 /ATA/ Prime Minister and Socialist Party leader Edi Rama held today an electoral meeting with socialist supporters in Petrela village, Tirana.

Rama stated that, “The meeting place was an agro-tourism built by a couple who have returned from emigration and have made a significant successful investment which a decade ago would have been inconceivable”.

Here, Rama added, there were actually 2-3 people who opened a few doors, but which barely survived; while today opening an agrotourism in the suburbs of Tirana is a very meaningful investment in terms of success.

Likewise, Rama continued, “The entire development of the capital and its entire transformation into a tourist destination has led to an increase in the number of hospitality doors which such a thing requires a significant increase in all domestic products.”

Speaking about domestic production, Rama stated that, “When we took office, the ratio between domestic products that were exported and imported products was 1 to 9. So, we exported 1 and imported 9, which means that our need for food was based mainly on imports. Today, we export 1 and import 3. Which means that there is a much greater presence of domestic production in the market and there is a significant reduction in imported products”.

“It is a ratio that we must continue to improve and it will improve”, emphasized Rama, but he added, “It is very important to say and understand that any investment that is made in the capital, in the urban areas of the capital seems to have no connection with what happens here; but, as a matter of fact, there is a direct connection and any improvement that is made to the city’s organism at any point affects the entire organism”. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, October 18/ATA/ Agro-tourism does not only contributes to the economic empowerment of the regions, but also plays a key role in creating jobs for local communities.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj was in Laknas, Tirana, where she closely visited the agro-tourism that Blerina has set up.

Denaj said that, “This agro-tourism promotes a close cooperation with the local farmers of the area, offering them the opportunity to take their quality products from the farm to the table”.

Also, said Denaj, local and foreign tourists get an authentic Albanian culinary experience, where every product served is fresh, organic and carefully produced in this agro-tourism with products from local farmers.

About 70% of women and girls are employed in this agro-tourism point. Meanwhile, this center cooperates with over 25 farming families in the area, from which it is supplied with various products.

Denaj said that 6 years ago there were only 10 agro-tourisms in Albania, while today there are more than 280 of them.

Agro-tourism is the perfect combination of agriculture and tourism, of family and entrepreneurship, of farmer and merchant, of exciting hospitality with quality Albanian food products, which today have received an echo in the international media. /r.e/a.f/p.s./
