Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dhimo Kote, told ATA that “during the first 8 months of this year exports of agricultural products increased by 1.8%, compared to the same period a year ago.”

According to him, the increase in agricultural exports is evidenced in the quantity and share they account for.

“Agricultural exports increased by over 2 thousand tons and in value by 3.7% , compared to the 8 month period of 2020,” Kote said, underlining that the best performing exports are greenhouse vegetables that create an advantage for Albania.

Albania has about 1700 hectares of greenhouses and plastic tunnels for the production of agricultural products.

Agriculture is among the sectors with the largest contribution to Gross Domestic Product, which is estimated at about 20%.
