Agriculture is also the largest sector in the economy and among the only ones that were not directly affected by the pandemic fallout.

The lockdown did not have any impact on rural areas, work continued normally, while demand for agricultural products increased, along with exports.

Data from INSTAT show that at the end of 2020, the share of agriculture in the total economy reached 19.3% of

Gross Domestic Product (GDP), from 18.4% in the previous two years.

This value records the highest level of its contribution to the country’s economy in recent years.
