TIRANA, Sept 28 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama criticized Serbia’s response to the defense agreement between Albania, Kosovo, and Croatia, calling it an output of backward thinking.

In a television interview, Rama clarified, “We have not formed an alliance to go to war with anyone; this is an agreement among three democratic states to cooperate in defense.”

“This is not a military alliance intended for attack. Any outrage is merely a reflection of backward thinking. The real concern is not Serbia’s stance, but seeing Kosovo act in a similarly backward manner,” Rama emphasized.

He added, “Kosovo has no ties with Serbia and should not take Serbia into account on its path forward.”

“For me, Kosovo has won the war and now must secure peace by establishing itself firmly within the democratic community. It should not look to Belgrade or concern itself with Serbia’s claims or statements. Kosovo must focus on its own responsibilities for its present and future, in connection with the dialogue, the EU, and the U.S.,” Rama said.

According to him, Kosovo must unilaterally fulfill the obligations set within the dialogue with Serbia and move forward.

“There is no need to concern itself with Serbia. In this regard, Serbia has nothing to lose. Serbia has already lost in its relations with Kosovo. Kosovo, on the other hand, has much to lose and is losing it by focusing on Serbia,” he added.
