TIRANA, Sept 19 /ATA/ The ‘After School’ programme will be extended this year to 117 schools under the Tirana Regional Directorate of Pre‑University Education, including institutions in Tirana, Vorë, Rrogozhinë, Kavajë and Kamëz.

Education and Sports Minister Mirela Kumbaro announced today that the programme aims to provide pupils in nine‑year schools and secondary schools with opportunities to learn, enjoy themselves, socialise and develop their talents beyond regular class hours.

“The ‘After School’ programme envisions school facilities remaining open to children beyond regular hours, providing spaces where they can gather, create, play and continue learning.

According to Minister Kumbaro, the programme also aims for children to spend more time in each other’s company and less in front of screens and technological devices.

The initiative will be implemented in schools in central Tirana as well as in suburban areas, including the municipalities of Vorë, Rrogozhinë, Kavajë and Kamëz.

The programme was previously implemented in a pilot phase, while this year it has been consolidated and extended to 408 schools across Albania. The results achieved this year will also serve as a basis for further expansion of the programme in the coming years.
