During the meeting he held with the team of Albanian negotiators in framework of opening of negotiations for Albania’s EU membership, PM Rama emphasized that, “According to some positive experience of some countries that have gone through this process, I think it is proper to establish an Inter-ministerial Council on European Affairs, which will have to guarantee a continuity in the internal discussion, regarding either the stance or the progress of the negotiation process”.

“This is such an intensive process, so challenging and requires such a great depth of interaction and coordination that practically if we don’t make an extra effort we will all find it impossible to deliver the desired results. And this Council will help us”, said Rama.

The head of government stated that, “It will be a Council that will meet periodically at the request of the Minister of State, whenever it is necessary, to make a balance or to address certain problems, or to highlight certain weaknesses, which require a solution of a political nature and will also be convened in certain cases at the request of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs or at my request for any special issue that requires a consultation with you as well, according to certain sectors”.

But, continued Rama, this will be an internal forum that will have a sense of the progress of things. It is very important not to work only as isolated isles from each other.

“It is very necessary for each of you to have the vision of the whole and to see the map of the extent of this small army in the territory of the European legislation and the progress or problems in this extent. This is very important”, Rama added.

PM Rama added that, “We are a team that has a vision, a great common goal and has separate objectives, but all separate objectives are gathered together in a common goal and lead us to results that we are able to achieve.
