Calling them ambassadors of Albania, Minister Peleshi praised the contribution of all staff in this time like no other.

He stressed that Albania, although a small country, is among the first countries for the active contribution to NATO. In his message addressed to our representatives on mission abroad, Minister of Defense also spoke about the achievements of 2021.

The year that we are leaving behind was a successful year for the Armed Forces, for our security and defense, our national integrity, for the position and strategic role that strengthened even more through the training “Defender 2021”, a training of unmatched dimensions. We were a host country. We will play host to every “DEFENDER” exercise, at least every two years so that they will take place in our region. “This exercise created the opportunity for interoperability on a large scale, but also for a very strong awareness of how strategic and how important our role in the region is,” said Minister Peleshi.

According to Minister of Defense, next year will see the military figure of the Armed Forces go to a higher level through the increase of the reward approved by the government.

“The government has adopted a reward of 30%, a flat increase, which means from the first soldier up to the general there will be a 30% salary increase, which is another motivation and strong reason to recruit more and better. We are conducting a recruitment campaign all over Albania now. This year we are trying to make our Armed Forces more youthful. We will continue the campaign to the city centers. We invite the young people to talk to us, to get to know the army better, to better understand the role of the Armed Forces, the extraordinary opportunities that the Armed Forces like no other structure offers to them, ” said Peleshi.

While guaranteeing the continuation of the active role of Albania in all missions abroad, Minister of Defense said that currently Albania has a budget 30% higher, or 1.75% of GDP, to increase it to 2% in 2024, according to NATO directives.
