By decree of the President of the Republic, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and upon the proposal of the Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Ferdinand Dimo and Petrit Çuni will now hold the rank of Major General.

Rear Admiral Adnand Agastra will hold the rank of Commodore, while Colonels Ardian Lilo, Vehbije Kuti, and Hamdi Doda will hold the rank of Brigadier General.

Minister Pirro Vengu, who attended the ceremony at the Ministry of Defense, commended the contributions of each military member and highlighted the importance of investing in human resources to strengthen the Armed Forces in addressing current challenges.

According to Minister Vengu, “Albania always needs generals because the Armed Forces are increasingly called upon for special missions. As a result, whether in the military or civilian component, we must be up to the task of these missions. And what better than experienced and professional military personnel to face these challenges.”

Minister Vengu further stated, “We have a consolidated pyramid of military officers in the Armed Forces,” expressing his gratitude to President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama for this initiative.

Minister of Defense stressed, “Given that over a thousand individuals strive to join the Armed Forces Academy every year, I believe this is the clearest indication of our people’s expectations, as all Albanians view this not as a secondary profession, but as a career where they can contribute and gain all the benefits.” He also emphasized that the goal is to increase the number of active forces.

Minister Vengu emphasized, “I believe that expanding the scope of the Armed Forces’ missions from a military industry perspective will give us the opportunity to promote these capabilities and utilize them in terms of the integration between the forces and the industry.”

He stated, “This will be the main priority, aiming to turn the trust of Albanian taxpayers into a responsibility within the context of our obligations as part of the Alliance and in confronting the various threats we face, ensuring that the increase in defense budgets becomes an economic opportunity for the country and all Albanians.”

The promotion ceremony for senior military officers was also attended by General Lieutenant Arben Kingji, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, along with the family members of the newly appointed generals.
