The Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro took to the social media on Wednesday to share images showing snow-capped peaks to picturesque landscapes of the Alps, inviting travellers to visit the area during winter season.

Tourism Minister noted that Albanian Alps and the country’s remote northern areas, home to stunning nature landscapes, were totally isolated during the long winter season until a few years ago, but they are now a top destination for the adventure travel and winter sport enthusiasts.”

Stretching along the northern course of the Drin River and the western flow of the Valbona River (a tributary of the Drin), the Albanian Alps occupy about 8% of the country’s territory. They are nestled in a geographically secluded position, connected to other regions of the country and neighboring territories by only a handful of roads, many of which are in a state of disrepair.

Within the Albanian Alps, you can distinguish distinct blocks, imposing mountain ranges, graceful mountain ridges, and captivating valleys that add to the region’s allure.

The breathtaking landscape with aquamarine rivers and lush and high peaks combine with rich traditions, fresh and unique cuisine of Albania’s northern villages.
