TIRANA, January 29/ATA/ Chairman of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha, together with opposition experts and the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, presented today the 2025-2029 government program for education and science.

The chief democrat emphasized the commitment of the DP to double the salaries of the teachers and the education budget.

“We will absolutely transform Albania into a true regional and wider model for its education system. Of course, this requires investments. But we are determined to double the education budget. We are determined to double teachers’ salaries. We are determined, regardless of the price, to apply and implement the latest technologies. The transformation of our education will be based on the digital transformation of this system”, said Berisha.

Berisha also promised changes to the education system, removing the requirement for an average grade as a criterion for admission to universities and cutting by half the student fees.

Regarding the academic world, Berisha said that he will respect academic freedom and that funds for science will be 0.8% of the national product.

“A country cannot have academic life and universities without academic freedom. Funds for science will be 0.8% of the national product. We will go above the average of the region so that to move towards the EU average”, said Berisha.

Berisha emphasized that in order to have a healthy academic system, academic freedom must be respected and better conditions for scientific research must be provided. /a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, April 13/ATA / Admission to university in the past was a big bargain, where the surname or wealth was worth, while in present-day Albania thanks to the reform undertaken by the Socialist Party, the entrance to the University is based on merit. And the next objective is the integration of well-known foreign universities with local ones where Albanian youth can be educated in Albania in the same way as they do outside our borders”.

During an electoral meeting in Përrenjas, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that this is possible and therefore we must continue together.

“I want and will do my best in the years ahead to bring foreign universities to Albania. To integrate them with our university, to make it possible for the girls and boys of this country not to have to go abroad to attend a foreign university, but to find that university here in Albania. To study with the programs of that university and get a degree from that university, this is completely possible and we will do it together “, – said Rama./p.s./
