TIRANA, Feb 28 /ATA/ -By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Wednesday that beyond the wreckage of Russian missiles, the wounds of Ukrainian soldiers, death and destruction, Ukraine is a country that is thinking and working every day for the future.

In the joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, after the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit held in Tirana, Rama underlined that the friendship between the two countries is being forged through fire.

” I am pleased that at this summit we had the opportunity to set out all our arguments and that we had the opportunity to hold our bilateral meeting and talk about Albania and Ukraine today and tomorrow. One of the very important things that should be the outcome of this nightmare is that our friendship is forged through fire and the future generations of Ukrainians and Albanians will feel closer than under normal circumstances,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister emphasized that “there is another thing that connects us, which proves that Putin has failed in his plan.”

“Instead of being held hostage and ruled by renegades after a quick invasion, Ukraine is negotiating with the EU and has become part of this group of countries from the Western Balkans to Moldova that are all together on a journey to join the EU”, said Rama.
“I have nothing but admiration for President Zelensky and the people of Ukraine who are very impressively fighting and working to reform, to move forward in the EU integration process. Just before we came in here, I got a message from someone who is working with Ukrainian institutions to set up a high-tech fund. He wrote to me: ‘Tell the president that our entire Western team is absolutely impressed by the Ukrainians they met, by their skills, will and exceptional talent to build this high-tech fund together,'” said Rama.
The Prime Minister emphasized that “we look forward to strengthening our cooperation”.
“I am happy that you kept the promise you gave me when you lived in peace, before the war, that you would come to Albania. I want to guarantee you that now and forever Albania is one of your homes, one of the places where every one of your fellow citizens can feel at home. We look forward to strengthening our cooperation so that we can be with you and the people of Ukraine on the day when, thanks to all these joint efforts, but above all your efforts, Ukraine will breathe freely and enjoy peace,” Rama added.
