TIRANA, June 29 /ATA/ – More than 4100 employees at the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation and the subordinated institutions will see a 35% pay rise as of July 1.

The Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja said Saturday that the wage increase policy has an estimated additional cost of 517 million lek for the second half of 2024 alone.

“The average monthly salary of a specialist in the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation will be raised to 113,333 lek or up by 35% compared to 2023. The increased wages will motivate more than 4,000 specialists at the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation and its subordinate institutions,” Gonxhja explained.

Minister Gonxhja also noted that a total of 555 administration supporting employees will see their wages increase by an amount of 8,000 lek a month.

The Albanian government approved significant salary increases across the public sector this week, marking a crucial step in the government’s efforts to boost wages. The government decision impacts on approximately 135,000 civil servants.

The decision marks the launch of the second phase of the wage policy initiated in 2023, aiming to raise the average salary in the public sector to 105,000 lek. The increased salaries will start from July 1st, with an estimated cost of 11 billion lek for the latter half of the year and a total budgetary impact of around 40 billion lek.
