This year’s edition focused on diversity under the slogan “Voices of Inclusion,” and included an activism fair, information about local initiatives around Albania, and an online campaign aimed at promoting a more equitable society by emphasizing the active engagement of diverse social groups, including women, youth, the elderly, persons with disabilities, the LGBTQI+ community, and minority populations from all over Albania.

Activists shared their stories and experiences, inspiring a vision for a fairer society where every voice is valued. Six activists were recognized with awards for their years of valuable contributions to Albanian civil society.

During the event, Public Affairs Officer McKenzie Louw encouraged participants to take steps to address tough challenges and ensure their voices are heard, noting that real change doesn’t happen in a single day and that advocacy requires time, persistence, and long-term commitment.

National Activism Day is part of the U.S. Embassy’s Civil Society Program “SPARKs: Supporting Civic Activism and Advocacy Initiatives in Albania,” implemented by Co-Plan.
