“We have set three priorities to have a quality education: First, salary increase for teachers; second, the modernization of the curricular framework on technological ability; thirdly, investments in school infrastructure and digitalization. We are determined to implement them in order to realize the dream of having a better quality education in our home country. Albania 2030 will have a much better quality education, which will match the skills required by the 21st century,” said Manastirliu.

Regarding the international test “Pisa 2025”, Minister Manastirliu said that the implementation of a medium-term action plan, which includes a number of main measures is well underway.

“First, teachers and students have been supplied with PISA assessment materials and question models in the core areas of reading, mathematics and science. Also, trainings were organized for teachers in these fields, which involved 1442 teachers throughout the country. The trainings are intended to familiarize teachers with the way of testing, designing questions, and coding the answers, improving the teachers’ ability to guide their students. Another measure has been the training of students in selected schools, providing them with information and test models to prepare them for the PISA test.

After these trainings, a trial test was conducted in 29 schools, with the participation of 588 students. The test was conducted in 13 Local Offices of Pre-University Education and included 36 schools and 2552 students. This test was conducted in the CBA variant (computer evaluation) and ended on April 30, 2024,” Manastirliu said.

Minister Manastirliu emphasized that these results show a significant improvement compared to the PISA 2022 test, especially in the fields of science and reading.

She expressed optimism about a better performance in PISA 2025 and underlined the importance of this strategy in the long term.

In the end, the minister emphasized the need for continuous adjustment of the education system, to create equal opportunities and bring educational ecosystem up to speed with the developments.
