TIRANA, Nov 9 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Deputy Prime Minister, Belinda Balluku, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, urged on Saturday that the prefects should update the plan for managing civil emergencies in each county.

Balluku and Minister of Interior, Ervin Hoxha, held a discussion roundtable today with the prefects on the tourist season, civil emergency management, and their crucial role in coordinating state institutions and agencies in the county.

Focusing on natural disasters, Balluku highlighted the current flooding situation the Iberian Peninsula is coping with due to climate change.

She emphasized the importance of developing a comprehensive action plan regarding civil emergencies.

“Climate change is not sparing anyone. Just a few weeks ago, we had to cope with a massive flood in Vlora, but the floods occurring on the Iberian Peninsula are the result of rainfall levels exceeding the norm. Therefore, all units and prefectures must update their action plans. It is needed maximum commitment and coordination with civil emergency services to tackle all challenges during the fall and winter,” she stated. /j.p/sm/
