Minister of Interior Ervin Demo highlighted the responsibility facing the new generation of State Police officers and stressed the importance of building a modern, professional police force grounded in integrity.

Demo said that wearing the state uniform represents a responsibility rather than a privilege, while the authority conferred by law must be exercised with professionalism, restraint and integrity.

The minister stressed that citizens must remain at the centre of the State Police’s work and that the law must apply equally to everyone, regardless of status, connections, beliefs or position, calling for zero -tolerance approach to corruption.

According to Demo, emerging security challenges require a police force built on knowledge, technology, professional training and prevention, as crime becomes increasingly sophisticated.

Another key element of the new standards concerns the remuneration and recognition of State Police personnel.

Minister Demo said that plans to increase salaries for all State Police personnel were progressing, signalling a substantial pay rise.

“The combination of the next generation of officers and the experience within the State Police will be instrumental in building a force capable of meeting the standards we envision for the country’s future.

Today is an opportunity to outline our vision for the State Police Academy, including plans to further develop and transform it. This is not simply about upgrading its infrastructure, but, above all, ensuring that the Academy keeps pace with the demands of the times and builds on the work already carried out by its academic staff and the leadership of the State Police,” the Interior Minister said.
