TIRANA, June 25/ATA/ Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu participated today in the second forum of the Higher Education League “Gjon Durrahium”, held at the venues of Tirana International Hotel.

There she emphasized the Government’s vision to transform Albania into a competitive academic destination in the region and beyond.

“I am satisfied to see that there are already set the targets regarding another stage of development of public and non-public higher education, also in regard to the dimension that the league itself is establishing in the higher education ecosystem in Albania. What we are experiencing today in the higher education ecosystem is rapid development in terms of internationalization and profiling of the universities. Private universities are an important part of higher education, too”, said Manastirliu.

Further on, the minister focused on promotion of the scientific research and innovation.

“Universities are the basis of scientific research and as such they must use their potential because these are the targets of the high standard that we want for our universities. Even non-public universities have managed to absorb funds from the National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation. There are 50 projects during 2023–2025 that have been taken by non-public universities. This year alone, the government has financed more than 180 scientific research and innovation projects, some of which are dedicated to open new laboratories, developing and supporting scientific research infrastructure,” said Manastirliu. /e.i//r.e//a.f/p.s./
