TIRANA, January 12/ATA/ Education Minister Evis Kushi stated today that the unique, common ABC book should be in the hands of students in all the Albanian-speaking space within this new year.

Speaking at a press conference, Kushi stated that the common ABC book makes us proud of the work done and also because of the cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Kosovo.

Kushi said that, “We already have a new unique textbook for first-grade children, which means that different schools do not have different texts, but everywhere we have a unified text that is adapted to new conditions, has a new curriculum and has digital content”.

Minister Kushi said that, “We have agreed with North Macedonia; they have already included it as a supplementary textbook, but beginning from the current year they will have a unique text in all Albanian schools”.

Kushi also said that, “Together with Minister of Education of Kosovo, we are cooperating so that the ABC book is also used in Montenegro, in the Presheva Valley and even in the Diaspora, wherever there are Albanian children, so that they learn the Albanian language with the same text”./k.s/j.p/p.s./

“Today, is the first day that our teachers across the country return from holidays and intensively begin work to prepare for the beginning of the new school year. We couldn’t start better than with the first training of teachers for the unique ABC book, which is already ready and this September will be in the hands of every child”, said Kushi in a post on social networks.

Given that the new school year 2022-2023 starts first in Kosovo on September 1, and then in Albania on September 12, Minister Kushi said that on September 1, together with her counterpart Nagavci, they will present the unique ABC book for students of the first grades.

“I am very happy that on September 1st I will be with Minister Arbërie Nagavci on the first day of school in Kosovo, where from there we will start promoting the most beautiful innovation for all students and teachers. May success attend all the teachers of Albania and Kosovo”, said Kushi.

In December 2021, Minister of Education and Sports of Albania Evis Kushi and Minister of Education and Science of Kosovo Arbërie Nagavci signed the agreement for the joint ABC book. /k.s/p.s./

TIRANA, November 24/ATA/ The government approved today the decision that in all the country’s schools there should be only one unified ABC textbook.

Following the government meeting, Education Minister Evis Kushi said that, “In pre-university education, the teachers have alternative textbooks available for every subject and in every school the teachers gather together and decide to choose one of the three alternatives that are approved in the catalogue of the Ministry of Education”.

“We”, continued Kushi, “have decided today to exclude from this procedure the text of the ABC textbook for the students in the first grade, which means that all first grade students in all schools in the country have a unified textbook.

“Learning the mother tongue is one of our most important objectives in pre-university education and in fact the ABC textbook is the first book that the student faces when sitting at the school benches”, underlined Kushi.

Minister Kushi said that in the coming months we will work intensively for this project “One language, one ABC textbook”, in order to start the procedures for an open, equal and transparent competition so that at the beginning of the school year 2022-2023 all children in the whole country should have the same ABC textbook”./p.s./
