TIRANA, Jan 11 /ATA/ – Martin Mata, Co-Chief Executive Officer of the Albanian – American Development Foundation (AADF), stated Saturday that AADF has invested around 35 million euros in projects on restoration of city centres across Albania, including the iconic Pyramid building in Tirana, and in the resort village of Tushemisht, the southeast Albanian municipality of Pogradec.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of a deal on the revitalization of Elbasan’s historic castle and its surrounding neighbourhood, Mata said that success in implementation of AADF projects lies in the management model.

He highlighted that over 1,000 businesses have been supported in the revitalized city centres and heritage sites, which have attracted around 20 million visitors.

Mata underlined that AADF and the Albanian government have jointly supported and invested in private sector projects.

“When ADF launched the revitalization project 15 years ago thanks to a government initiative at the time, we were not fully aware that the revitalization and management model was more important than anything else. The private sector has invested more than AADF and the government combined,” he said.
