TIRANA, July 25/ATA/ Entering its 56th consecutive day, the demonstration against the Zvërnec development brought citizens together at Skanderbeg Square. The crowd then marched along Martyrs of Nation boulevard toward the Prime Minister’s Office, reiterating calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the cabinet.

With banners and national flags, the participants demanded the repeal of the changes in the law on protected areas, the revision of the electoral law, as well as the removal of what they considered the old political caste.

“This government has done nothing,” an elderly protester said. “They ignore human rights. How can you call this a government when it fails to protect basic rights?”

While a young protester criticized a recent meeting held by PM Rama in Theth, calling it staged.

“Rama’s meeting had only 20 people, and it wasn’t even held properly in Theth—it was pure propaganda,” he said. “Albania is corrupt and run by gangs,” he said.

During the speeches held in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, the organizers and participants reiterated their demands for the creation of a transitional government, the implementation of constitutional changes and the repeal of laws on protected areas and strategic investments.

Finally, the participants continued the march along some of the main streets of the capital. /p.s./
