TIRANA, September 7/ATA/ The marathon protest against the Zvërnec investment project hit its 100th day today, with citizens and activists vowing to continue their civic action indefinitely. Organizers urged the public to join today’s mass rally, calling this 100-day milestone a critical turning point for escalating the movement.

After gathering in “Skanderbeg” square, the protesters marched along the “Martyrs of the Nation” boulevard towards the Prime Minister’s Office, where they again voiced their demands for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the so-called “old” political caste.

Their demands also include the repeal of the changes to the law on protected areas, the amendment of the electoral law, etc.

Activist Edison Lika assured that citizens will see their cause for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama to the end. Lika emphasized that despite 100 days of consecutive protests, the citizens remain as motivated and enthusiastic as on the first day.

Dubbed the “Flamingo Revolution,” the wave of protests began on May 31 as a reaction against the environmental impact of the tourist project in Zvërnec.

Participants are now demanding political and institutional changes and expressing their concerns about corruption, job opportunities and the departure of young people from the country.

Activists have also warned of continued civil disobedience and an escalation of civic action. /p.s./
