Albanian and Hungarian national libraries launch professional and academic cooperation

TIRANA, Nov. 4 /ATA/ – The National Library of Albania and Hungary’s National Széchényi Library have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening professional, academic and cultural cooperation between the two institutions.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lira Pipa, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and Hungary’s Ambassador to Albania, Martina Laura Kasnyik.

The memorandum provides for new opportunities to exchange publications and professional expertise, digitise collections, develop joint projects and organise exhibitions, conferences and cultural and academic events.

A key element of the partnership will be the establishment of a “Hungarian Literature Corner” at the National Library of Albania, made possible through a donation of books by the Hungarian side.

The initiative marks a practical step towards strengthening ties between the two institutions and will give Albanian readers an opportunity to explore Hungary’s history, literature and culture more closely.

The agreement is also intended to reinforce institutional ties between Albania and Hungary by promoting the exchange of knowledge and broadening the cultural offer available to the public.
