Ethics Secretariat suspends Berisha for 10 days and five other DP MPs for two months

TIRANA, Oct 30 /ATA/ The Secretariat for Procedures, Voting and Ethics today considered a request by a group of Socialist Party MPs to impose disciplinary measures.

According to media reports, the Ethics Secretariat decided to suspend Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha from parliamentary proceedings for 10 days over the disruption of the 29 October plenary session. The Socialist MPs alleged that he had “used unparliamentary language, called for acts of violence and made statements that incited hatred”.

Meanwhile, MPs Albana Vokshi, Xhelal Mziu, Ivi Kaso, Bledion Nallbati and Blendi Himçi have each been handed 60-day suspensions, while no disciplinary action was taken against Klodiana Çapja.

The sanctions against the Democratic Party MPs follow yesterday’s plenary session, during which they set off flares, threw objects and obstructed the parliamentary rostrum, causing tensions and disrupting the proceedings.
